Hi, I am Dr. Gorman and I would like to tell you a little about myself. I was born in St. Louis, MO in 1960 and moved to Marion two years later. I attended Riverview Elementary School, Justice (then it was a junior high school), and graduated from Marion High School in 1979. While at MHS I was on the tennis team and the swim team. During my senior year, our tennis team made it all the way to the state finals.

After high school I went to college and graduated from Indiana University in 1983. Then I was accepted to I.U. School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. After my sophomore year, I married my wife Cindy and we lived in Broadripple for the next two years. I graduated from dental school in 1987, and was accepted to an Orthodontic residency in St. Louis at Washington University. While in St. Louis Cindy gave birth to our first child Chelsea in early '88 and our lives would never be the same again. I finished my degree in 1989 and returned to Marion to practice with my father Jack Gorman. During the next two years we traveled to St. Louis every month to teach lingual (behind the teeth) orthodontics to the residents. Then in 1990 we were blessed with the birth of our son Tripp, and a year later our youngest child Grace was born.

1993 was not a good year for me. On July 12, my friend, my mentor, my father died. It was a very difficult time for our family, but with our love for each other and God's care we persevered.

In 1998 I became a Board Certified Orthodontist. Not a required certification, but one that says I took the extra step to have my cases evaluated and judged by a panel of my peers. It was a lot of extra work, but it lets my patients know that they are receiving the highest level of care possible. I love what I do, making people smile, and I hope some day that I can help you to smile too.

Besides my family and Orthodontics, my other passions are big mountain skiing, golf, ocean sailing, and fishing. I still play a little tennis with my kids, and the occasional game of PIG, but I've got no shot.

I teach two times a month at IU's Orthodontic Department, and give two or three Lingual courses each year. For these courses, I get to travel around the world.

Orthodontics is a great profession. I love it and would love to share it with you. If you want that smile you have always dreamed of, or you want to help people smile like I do, come see me.
